Step ‘n Wash helps airports like Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) prioritize accessibility so those traveling this spring break can focus on the destination, not the journey.
With the help of partners like Step ‘n Wash, the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in Atlanta, Georgia, is busy making their facilities inclusive for all of its passengers. With so many travelers passing through its doors, the team at ATL works diligently to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.
As part of their accessibility efforts, ATL was the first airport to install Step ‘n Wash, a floor-mounted restroom step stool that helps children and people with disabilities safely and independently wash their hands.
“It provides ease of access,” said Charles Pettis, Director of Customer Experience at ATL, when asked about the impact of Step ‘n Wash. “By having Step ‘n Wash for those people who may have a height challenge, whether it is a child or someone experiencing dwarfism, it provides them flexibility and the ability to wash their hands, remain clean, and at the same time, have independence.”
Pettis and his team calculated, conservatively, that ATL passengers have used Step ‘n Wash more than 6,000,000 times, helping eliminate the challenges that come with lifting a toddler up to the faucet, maintaining an eye on luggage and keeping bodies balanced all while trying to wash your hands.
“Our goal is to not only make travel easier for parents and those with height-related disabilities, but to give everyone the opportunity to wash their hands when they are out,” said Jacob Fedosky, President of Step ‘n Wash. “Handwashing shouldn’t be a luxury. Everyone should have the opportunity to utilize restroom necessities, like the sink and soap, no matter their height.”
Step ‘n Wash is now in over 100 airports thanks to partners and pioneers like ATL.
“We appreciate the partnership. We like the fact that you have a product that has been very beneficial to our customers and continues to work for years and years on end,” said Pettis.
