Step ’n Wash MAP Policy

This Minimum Advertised Price policy (this MAP Policy) applies to resellers and distributors of Step ’n Wash products (Resellers). This MAP Policy governs advertising only, not the price a Reseller ultimately charges in a private transaction.

Unilateral policy notice. Step ’n Wash LLC (Step ’n Wash) is not asking for, and will not accept, any agreement from any Reseller regarding resale prices. Resellers remain free to set their own resale prices. Step ’n Wash may decide, in its sole discretion, whether to do business with Resellers that advertise our products in a manner consistent with this MAP Policy.

This MAP Policy is incorporated by reference into the Step ’n Wash Authorized Reseller and Distributor Terms and may be updated by Step ’n Wash from time to time.

1) Where this policy applies

This MAP Policy applies to publicly accessible listings and advertising, including:

  • publicly accessible pages on your website
  • public ecommerce listings
  • public price displays and product feeds
  • paid search ads, display ads, and social ads
  • public social media posts that display price
  • email marketing sent to broad lists if it displays a price or a discount that can be used by the general public
  • printable flyers or other materials that display price and are distributed publicly

Private portals are excluded

If you have a private customer portal that is not accessible to the public and requires login credentials (and is not generally available for anyone to create an account), you may set and display pricing there as you wish.

2) Key definitions

Advertised Price means the lowest publicly displayed price for a product, including the effect of:

  • promo codes or coupons that are publicly promoted or can be used by the general public
  • instant rebates, on-page discounts, and strike-through pricing
  • “automatic” discounts shown publicly
  • bundles, kits, or offers that effectively reduce the per-unit price

Shipping, tax, and installation charges are excluded unless they are advertised as “free” or otherwise included in a way that changes the effective price.

Published Price means Step ’n Wash’s then-current list price, MSRP, or published online price for that SKU, as shown in our current price list, portal, or written quote.

Publicly Accessible means a price display that can be viewed without logging in and without being approved as a customer. If a page can be viewed by the general public, indexed by search engines, or accessed via a direct link without authentication, it is publicly accessible.

3) MAP rules by product category

A) Replacement parts

Replacement parts may be advertised at up to 15% off the Published Price.

That means the Advertised Price must be no lower than 85% of the Published Price.

Example: If a replacement part has a Published Price of $100, the minimum Advertised Price is $85.

B) Step ’n Wash step stools

Step ’n Wash step stools may be advertised at up to $50 per unit off the Published Price.

That means the Advertised Price must be no lower than (Published Price minus $50) per unit.

Example: If a step stool has a Published Price of $800, the minimum Advertised Price is $750.

4) Common advertising practices that can violate MAP

The following are not allowed when they result in an Advertised Price below MAP:

  • publicly posting a promo code that drops the price below MAP
  • “email for price” or “add to cart to see price” tactics used to effectively advertise below MAP
  • public bundles where the effective per-unit price for a MAP covered item falls below MAP
  • public strike-through pricing that shows a below-MAP price

5) What is allowed

  • Negotiated pricing and quotes provided privately (email, phone, private customer portal, private proposals), even if the final selling price is below MAP.
  • Public advertising that does not show price (for example, product features, availability, lead time).
  • Public coupons or promos as long as the effective Advertised Price remains at or above MAP.

6) Enforcement

Step ’n Wash may take any action it deems appropriate in its sole discretion, including:

  • requesting correction or removal of a non-compliant advertisement
  • suspending or revoking Preferred Pricing
  • refusing orders or placing shipments on hold
  • suspending portal access
  • deauthorizing the Reseller

Step ’n Wash may enforce this MAP Policy without notice and is not required to enforce it uniformly.

7) Questions

For questions about how this MAP Policy applies to a specific public advertisement, contact: legal@stepnwash.com (or another address Step ’n Wash provides).

Requests for exceptions to MAP will not be considered unless Step ’n Wash states otherwise in writing.

8) Updates

Step ’n Wash may update this MAP Policy at any time. Updates apply prospectively as of the effective date posted with the updated policy. Continued use of Step ’n Wash Brand Assets, Preferred Pricing, or the portal after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
